About Aelia

Aelia (said AY-lee-a) is a shop of pieces that were kept. A slip folded away in tissue, a nightgown saved for a honeymoon, a wedding gown worn once and loved for fifty years after. They were handed on, and they reached me.

I choose each one myself: vintage bridal gowns and silk nightwear, mostly from the 1940s to the 2000s, in the colours they came in. Ivory, champagne, blush, peach, butter yellow, powder blue and black.

Aelia began on Instagram, as @aelia.vintage. This is its new home.

Brides looking for the dress, or a second look for the evening. The wedding morning: robes and slips for getting ready, the honeymoon, the bridesmaids. Anyone who wears a slip as a dress. And collectors who care about the era, the maker and the label.

We photograph every piece on a dress form against a plain wall in daylight, so the colour you see is the colour it is. Each one is measured flat, and every flaw we find is described and photographed up close. If you want to see something we haven't shown, ask us.

New pieces arrive in drops. Before the doors open you can preview every piece, without prices, and tap Want this for a reminder. When the doors open, prices appear and the first person to complete payment takes the piece home. There are no holds, and if a payment fails, the piece goes straight back on sale.
